Secret Santa FAQ
How does a Secret Santa generator work? +
You enter everyone taking part, and the generator randomly assigns each person someone to buy a gift for. Nobody can draw themselves, and you can add rules so that, for example, couples don't draw each other.
Is this Secret Santa generator free? +
Yes. It is completely free, needs no sign-up and collects no names or email addresses. The draw runs in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
How do I tell people who they got without revealing everyone? +
After the draw, each name has its own "Copy message" button. Send each person their own message by text, WhatsApp or email, so only they see who they are buying for. You can also hide the results and let people reveal their own match one at a time on a shared screen.
Can I stop couples or housemates from drawing each other? +
Yes. Add an exclusion rule for any pair who shouldn't be matched. The generator only produces draws that respect every rule, and tells you if your rules make a draw impossible.
What is a good Secret Santa budget? +
For offices, $20–$30 (or £15–£25 / €20–€30) is the most common range. For families and close friends, $30–$50 is typical. Agree the limit before the draw and include it in each person's message.
How many people do you need for Secret Santa? +
At least three. There is no upper limit in this generator, so it works for small families and large offices alike.
How do I buy a Secret Santa gift that fits? +
If your gift is clothing, shoes or jewellery, ask for their size discreetly or use the free Size Notes app, where people save and share their clothing, shoe and ring sizes so you never guess.
